The Sol Plaatje Municipality’s Electrical Department is making progress in its all-out-effort to restore power supply to Roodepan’s Jacksonville area:
* Joining on underground repaired cable (feeder to Jacksonville) to be followed by pressure testing.
Once successfully done, reconnection will unfold.
Background to the outage;
– This morning after 05:00, explosion resulting from cutting of an aluminium cable near Roodepan’s SwitchHouse No1. Cable thieves thought it was a copper cable; affected Jacksonville being brought back online amid Thursday’s outage.

DAY-THREE: POWER SUPPLY RESTORED TO LOWER ROODEPAN, EXCEPT JACKSONVILLE
The Sol Plaatje Municipality’s Electrical Department has been working to restore power supply after an explosion caused by thieves cutting an aluminium cable near Roodepan’s SwitchHouse No1. They had thought it was a copper cable.
The all-out-effort to restore supply to lower Roodepan’s White City, Mintdraft, Erwe, and Sunset Manor finally succeeded.
JACKSONVILLE: Due to the incident, the team will reassemble after 09:00 to work on the Jacksonville feeder.
Cause of Outage from past Thursday and affecting Lower Roodepan into this morning:
The three-day outage was caused by excessive damage to a transformer at H.A Morris Substation in early hours of past Thursday morning. Sharp weaponry was used, and we liken the attack on the substation to an act of sabotage.

POWER SUPPLY RESTORED – ASHBURNHAM AND HALL STREET SUBSTATION
The CBD, Kimberley North, West End, and possibly other areas receiving supply from Ashburnham and Hall Street substations are back online amid a brief outage.
RESTORATION OF POWER SUPPLY TO ALL AREAS
The Electrical Department is working on restoring supply to all areas that have been offline since yesterday.
Therefore, the repaired H.A Morris Substation transformer is being energised, and its Ashburnham and Hall Street feeders were utilised.

DAY 2: POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION IN HOMEVALE, HOMELITE, AND PARTS OF ROODEPAN
We wish to assure the affected residents that the municipality’s Electrical Department is embarking on a last-ditch effort to restore supply today.
Progress on H.A Morris Substation repair:
* Filling the tank of repaired transformer with oil – they have reached the 9 000 litre mark and target is 14 000.
– This will allow for the energising of feeders to areas currently offline.
Failed attempt to restore supply to;
• Lower Roodepan’s White City, Mintdraft, Old Roodepan, and Erwe.
* Sunset Manor will also be reconnected.
Other Areas That Will Be Back Online Are:
* Homevale and Homelite
Cause of Outage: Emanates from persistent vandalism and theft at H.A Morris Substation. It came under attack again yesterday morning.

The Municipality’s Electrical Department is still working on restoring power supply to:
* Colville, Florianville, Homestead and Homevale.
* Parts of Roodepan supplied from H.A Morris Substation – Old Roodepan, Erwe, Mintdraft, Sunset Manor, Jacksonville, and sections of the Flats.
* Galeshewe areas; Witdam, Bloemanda, Ramorwa
Please Let Know:
Parts of Galeshewe that have been brought back online earlier this afternoon will experience a brief outage of 10 to 15 minutes within the next three (3) hours.
– The transformer at H.A Morris Substation supplying areas currently offline will be energised.
We are working on restoring supply to all areas this evening.
Cause of Outage: Persistent vandalism and theft at H.A Morris Substation. It came under attack again this morning.

* Other parts of Kimberley that will still remain off amid this morning’s outage are; Colville, Florianville and Homestead.
The municipality’s Electrical Department is still working on restoring supply to all remaining affected areas.
