TEMPORARY WATER INTERRUPTION 24/07/2026 – Newton Reservoir & Riverton Plant

⚠️ ALERT: TEMPORARY WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION TONIGHT – EMERGENCY REPAIRS ON 900MM BULK PIPELINE
The Municipality’s Waterworks Division will attend to a major leak on the 900mm diameter bulk pipeline near MediClinic Gariep Hospital.
The repair work was suspended on Wednesday to avoid inconveniencing residents mid-week during high-demand conditions.
All Pumping Operations Will Be Stopped At 17:00
Repair Work:
– The water supply from Riverton will be switched off on both the 900mm and 600mm diameter pipelines
– The pumps at Newton Reservoirs will also be switched off to allow repairs
Impact:
The entire Kimberley area will experience low water pressure to no water until late this evening.
An all-out effort will be made to restore supply in the early hours of Saturday, 25 July 2026.
📍Residents are urged to store sufficient water for essential use tonight.
