💥LOADSHEDDING UPDATE TUE 07 JAN 2020 – 18:30 💥
https://bit.ly/2QSZlB4

STAGE 2 #LOADSHEDDING Declared from 01:00 on WED, 08/01/2020 to 06:00 on WED 08/01/2020

2️⃣ On Stage 2 loadshedding two hour long rolling blackouts are introduced
according to the Stage 2 Schedule.

POWER ALERT 2 Date: 07 January 2020
Eskom to implement Stage 2 loadshedding from 01:00 until 06:00 tomorrow morning in order to accommodate the release of matric results
Tuesday, 07 January: Eskom announced that it will implement stage 2 loadshedding from 01:00 until 06:00 tomorrow morning, Wednesday. In order to minimise the impact of the loadshedding on South Africans, loadshedding is scheduled at night to maximise electricity availability during the working day. Owing to a loss of additional generation capacity, emergency reserves had to be extensively utilised to supplement capacity during the day. These now need to be replenished to meet tomorrow’s electricity demand. The system remains constrained and unpredictable with breakdowns (UCLF) sitting at 13 600MW.
In order to give matriculants an opportunity to receive their matric results, the implementation of stage 2 loadshedding has been delayed to 01:00 on Wednesday morning. This decision will also allow the matriculants enough time to make their way home safely.

Our teams continue to work tirelessly to return units back from planned and unplanned outages. Owing to inadequate maintenance over a number of years, the system remains vulnerable to unplanned outages. We, however, remind customers that loadshedding is an essential and controlled measure to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.
We continue to ask customers to reduce demand as a concerted collective effort can help to avoid or reduce lessen the level of loadshedding.
We will keep South Africans informed about the status of the electricity system and our recovery effort.

💥LOADSHEDDING UPDATE SUN 05 JAN 2020 – 21:30 💥
https://cutt.ly/DruAqkr

ESKOM: #Loadshedding will be terminated at 23:00 on Sunday 05/01/2020.

POWER ALERT 2 Date: 05 January 2020
Eskom stops loadshedding earlier than planned with no loadshedding expected tomorrow
Sunday, 05 January 2020: Loadshedding will be terminated at 23:00 this evening, earlier than anticipated as our water levels at pumped storage schemes have been adequately replenished. We have managed to conserve diesel at our open cycle gas turbine generators, and continue to work to replenish the diesel levels.
The system remains constrained and vulnerable, with unplanned breakdowns at 13 041 MW as at 21:00 on Sunday 5 January 2020. No loadshedding is expected tomorrow, Monday 06 January 2020. However, should there be a significant shift in plant performance and an increase in unplanned breakdowns, loadshedding could be implemented at short notice.
We continue to ask customers to reduce demand by using electricity sparingly as a concerted collective effort can help to avoid or reduce the level of loadshedding.
Customers should note that some areas may take longer to be restored. If customers experience outages for longer periods than announced, please contact your supplier (Eskom or the Municipality) as this may be a localised power outage.

💥LOADSHEDDING UPDATE SUN 05 JAN 2020 – 07:00 💥

ESKOM: The current Stage 2 loadshedding will continue to 05:00 on Monday Morning, 06/01/2020

2️⃣ On Stage 2 loadshedding two hour long rolling blackouts are introduced
according to the Stage 2 Schedule.

POWER ALERT 1 Date: 05 January 2020
Stage 2 loadshedding will continue until 05:00 on Monday
Sunday, 05 January 2020: The system remains constrained and vulnerable, and as such loadshedding stage 2 will unfortunately have to continue from 08:00 this morning until 05:00 tomorrow morning (Monday).
The conveyor belt failure at Medupi power station has since been repaired and the plant is feeding power into the grid. This incident, however, as well as a loss of additional generation units caused us to have to deplete our diesel and pump storage levels, which we need to restore as we head into the working week on Monday.
Our teams continue to work tirelessly to return units back from planned and unplanned outages. Owing to inadequate maintenance over a number of years, the system remains vulnerable to unplanned outages. We remind customers that loadshedding is an essential and controlled measure to ensure that the integrity of the grid is not compromised.
We will give South Africans regular updates about our prognosis for tomorrow and our recovery efforts for the week ahead.
We continue to ask customers to reduce demand as a concerted collective effort can help to avoid or reduce the level of loadshedding.

💥LOADSHEDDING UPDATE SAT 04 JAN 2020 – 21:00 💥

2️⃣ On Stage 2 loadshedding two hour long rolling blackouts are introduced
according to the Stage 2 Schedule.

ESKOM POWER ALERT 2 Date: 04 January 2020
Eskom to implement Stage 2 loadshedding from 22:00 tonight until 08:00 on Sunday
Saturday, 04 January 2020: Owing to an unanticipated conveyor belt failure at Medupi power station, the system is currently severely constrained and vulnerable. While a number of units are being brought back on line following repairs and maintenance, it is essential to implement Stage 2 loadshedding tonight from 22:00 until 08:00 tomorrow (Sunday). This is in order to help us replenish both our water levels at pumped storage schemes and diesel for our open cycle gas turbines in order to create adequate reserve capacity to place us in a better position to stabilise for the week ahead as South Africa returns to work.
Our teams continue to work tirelessly to return units back from planned and unplanned outages. Owing to inadequate maintenance over a number of years, the system remains vulnerable to unplanned outages. We however remind customers that loadshedding is an essential and controlled measure to ensure continuity of supply.
We will give South Africans regular updates during the course of the day tomorrow about our prognosis for the day and our recovery efforts for the week ahead.
We continue to ask customers to reduce demand as a concerted collective effort can help to avoid or reduce the level of loadshedding.
Eskom customers can check their loadshedding schedules on the Eskom website (loadshedding.eskom.co.za) or through the customer contact centre on 0860037566.

MESSAGE FROM ESKOM:

ESKOM POWERALERT 1

Eskom implements Stage 2 rotational loadshedding

Eskom regrets informing South Africans and all its customers that after having not implemented loadshedding from 09 December 2018, Eskom will implement Stage 2 rotational loadshedding from 13:00 and is likely to continue until 22:00. This is as a result of a shortage of capacity. There is also a need to replenish and preserve emergency water and diesel resources to limit loadshedding possibility or magnitude thereof in the following week.

Customers are reminded to treat all electrical points as live during loadshedding.

Stage 2 calls for 2000MW to be rotationally loadshed nationally at a given period. Loadshedding is conducted rotationally as a measure of last resort to protect the power system from a total collapse or blackout.

We continue to appeal to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period. Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electricity appliances to assist in reducing demand.

When Eskom experiences a generation capacity shortfall on the National  Power grid, Load Shedding is immediately required in order to maintain national Network stability. During such an event, all Power Utilities are required to contribute to the national shortfall by reducing load in accordance the National Load Shedding Plan.
In other words: Load-shedding and rolling blackouts can be introduces at any time with little or no notice.

Kimberley Load Shedding Status • MON 10/12/2018 08:30

Power utility Eskom says on that South Africans should start planning for
load shedding to take place sometime this week.

This after the power utility earlier warned of a constrained national power
supply – which it said was caused by protests and intimidation – for the first
time since late June. Eskom put out similar warnings ahead of rotational load
shedding in the past.

On Monday afternoon at 16:00 Eskom said in an update that customers “are
advised to plan on the assumption that load shedding will take place”.

Customers are encouraged to check their load shedding schedules on the Eskom
and their municipal website.Thanks
