The Sol Plaatje Municipality once again warns residents of a WhatsApp scam:
– Fraudster: “Feroz Kahn” claims to work for the municipality
– Claim: Urges ratepayers to report to properties for disconnection due to arrears
– Truth: No “Feroz Kahn” – Head of Disconnections, 060 897 8120, works for the municipality, and no physical disconnections are being done.
*PROTECT YOURSELF
– Be cautious of WhatsApp messages regarding arrears
– No municipal official will accept cash payments
– Pay only at designated paypoints, legitimate bank accounts, or online via Easypay – www.solplaatje.online
*VERIFY INFORMATION
– Call the municipality’s Call-Centre: 080 122 9010
