UPDATE: 8 October 2023 – 16:00
The Sol Plaatje Municipality would like to update residents about the water supply challenges taking place.
The Newton Reservoir is still not receiving adequate water from Riverton since the pumping resumed in the early hours of the morning.
As a result the Municipality will be closing all direct off-takes that feeds directly to the Township, so that the water can be pumped directly to Newton. This is going to boost pressure and levels so that town and high lying areas can have adequate water.
The Kimberley Town will receive water in the late hours today.
The Municipality is working tirelessly to restore the water and would like to appreciate your patience and apologise for the inconvenience caused.
UPDATE: 8 October 2023 – 09:00
The Sol Plaatje Municipality would like to inform the residents about the water interruption wherein there is low pressure to no water.
The Municipality had an emergency repair on the 600mm and 900mm main pipeline that feeds water to Newton Reservoir and as a result the levels are low at the reservoir.
The team managed to repair the identified leaks successfully, in the early hours of Sunday (08 October) and the pumping from Riverton to Newton Reservoir has resumed. We are currently pumping with 2 pumps in Riverton, and 1 pump in Newton Reservoirs. Normal water supply should be restored during the course of the day.
The Municipality would like to apologise for the inconvenience, and to also thank you for your patience.
