Kimberley Refuse Collection – UPDATE – MAY/JUNE 2026

UPDATE: 3 June 2026 – 10:00

📍 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: REFUSE COLLECTION ON SCHEDULE TODAY

Refuse collection for Wednesday, 03 June 2026 is operating as per the normal schedule. Collection will also continue as scheduled on Thursday and Friday.

Note: The portion of New Hillcrest not serviced on Tuesday will be collected this morning.

📍 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: REFUSE COLLECTION CONTINUES INTO EVENING

Refuse collection scheduled for today will continue in all areas into the evening. Teams will work until 20:00 to clear the backlog.

Residents in Monday scheduled areas: Please leave your refuse bins out. Do not bring them in until the collection is complete.

Collection will continue for the rest of the week according to the normal schedule.

UPDATE: 1 June 2026 – 08:00

📍 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: REFUSE COLLECTION RESUMES

Refuse removal resumes this morning after a two-week interruption.

Compactor trucks were unable to leave the Ashburnham depot during the workers’ strike.

Collection will continue today and for the rest of the week according to the normal schedule:

Compactor Trucks Movements; D173 – Starts at Ipopeng, Retswelele areas and moves to Carters Glen, Royldene and Lindene areas; D131 – Verwoerd Park, West End, Riviera and a portion of Donkerhoek; D128 covers CBD and Malls; D622 – Tlhageng, Ipeleng and Vergenoeg areas; D811 – Phajane Street area and a portion of Number Two.

A total of seven compactor trucks are on the beat. Teams are also cleaning the CBD.

UPDATE: 25 May 2026 – 08:30

⚠️ URGENT ALERT: REFUSE COLLECTION SUSPENDED DUE TO STRIKE ACTION

Refuse collection will not take place today in areas scheduled for Monday collection. Striking workers have barricaded the main gate at the Ashburnham precinct, preventing access to the depot.

Residents in the affected areas are requested to keep their waste on their properties until further notice.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
