Pay Increase for Sol Plaatje Officials & Councillors

During the first Sol Plaatje meeting this year Sol Plaatje councillors voted in a pay increase backdated to 1 July 2017.

The Executive Mayor – R968 008
The Speaker – R774 405
Members of the Mayoral Committee – R726 005
This exclude cellphone allowances of R3 400 p/m and data bundles of R300 p/m

Part time councillors who are chairpersons of Section 79 committees – R393 135
Other part time councillors – R288 988
The Chief Whip of the various political parties – R405 016
These exclude cell phone allowances.

Other Perks

Executive Mayor – A council house or if occupying own house reimbursement equivalent to the market value rental of a similar house.
A full time chauffer for the Executive Mayor & the Speaker.

The EFF opposed the increases.
