》The pumps at the Newton Reservoirs are back in operation, and water supply to the CBD and surrounding suburbia is being restored. The repair work in replacing an old 600mm asbestos cement pipe with a six-meter long steel pipe is complete.

UPDATE 3: PLANNED WATER INTERRUPTION DUE TO INSTALLATION OF 600MM DIAMETER STEEL PIPE IN RHODES AVENUE, RHODESDENE
》Waterworks is pulling all the stops in ensuring water supply is restored this morning in the CBD and surrounding suburbia.
》The repair work is about to be completed and the pumps at the Newton Reservoirs are likely to be back in operation at 09h00.
》The draining delayed the actual installation of the sixth-meter long 600mm diameter steel pipe – in replacing an old asbestos cement pipe that has been the source of the leak and excessive water losses.

UPDATE 2: PLANNED WATER INTERRUPTION DUE TO INSTALLATION OF 600MM DIAMETER STEEL PIPE IN RHODES AVENUE, RHODESDENE
》Draining is still in progress, and the actual installation of the sixth-meter long 600mm diameter steel pipe – replacing an asbestos cement pipe that has been the source of the leak and excessive water losses – will take-off before 21h00.
》Pumps at the Newton Reservoirs will be back in operation upon completion of the repair work.
》For this evening, residents in the CBD and surrounding suburbia are experiencing low pressure to no water. A portion of Soul City in Galeshewe is also affected
ROAD CLOSURE
A section of Rhodes Avenue remains closed, and access is strictly granted to residents within the immediate vicinity of the repair operation.

PLANNED WATER INTERRUPTION DUE TO INSTALLATION OF 600MM DIAMETER STEEL PIPE IN RHODES AVENUE, RHODESDENE
》Preparatory work; tree felling is in progress. Waterworks will replace a section of a leaking asbestos pipe with a six-meter steel pipe aimed at preventing the ongoing water losses.
》 Pumps at the Newton Reservoirs are to be switched off in the next few minutes and will be back in operation upon completion of the repair work; excavation, draining, and installation.
》Residents in the CBD and surrounding suburbia will start experiencing low pressure to no water this afternoon until into the late evening. A portion of Soul City will also be affected.
ROAD CLOSURE
A section of Rhodes Avenue after the Zambesi Street three-way intersection and stretching slightly beyond the repair work area is being closed off. Access will be strictly for residents of Rhodes Manor and some of the households.

ALERT: PLANNED WATER INTERRUPTION DUE TO INSTALLATION OF 600MM DIAMETER STEEL PIPE IN RHODES AVENUE, RHODESDENE
》Water supply will be interrupted tomorrow – Wednesday, 24 July 2024 – in the CBD and surrounding suburbia from midday to 22h00. Waterworks will replace a section of a leaking asbestos pipe with a six-meter long steel pipe aimed at averting the ongoing water losses in Rhodes Avenue.
》 Pumps at the Newton Reservoirs are to be switched off during the duration of the repair work.
Residents in the high-lying areas are encouraged to store water for all necessary needs.
