• At Droogfontein CPA property near Riverton; crack on the scour branch fully exposed amid intensive draining of excess water. Team ready for welding preparations as soon as pipe is fully drained.

The municipality assures residents that the repair work is in progress and has started as planned this morning at 06:00.
Work undertaken at this hour – 08:00 at the two major leaks:
• At Midstation near Roodepan, repairing of cracked weld inside chamber; chamber successfully drained. The preparing of cracked weld for welding is active.
• At Droogfontein CPA property near Riverton, the scope of repair work is on a crack on the scour branch – intensive draining of excess water in motion. The team has to empty the scour branch for the welding preparations to unfold.
This is an all-day repair work operation, and it is set to be completed into the early evening.

⚠️ URGENT ALERT: RESIDENTS URGED TO STORE WATER FOR TOMORROW’S (SUNDAY, 08 MARCH 2026) ALL-DAY WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION
The municipality is calling upon residents in Kimberley to store water for essential use for the entire day of tomorrow, Sunday 08 March 2026.
The Call to Store Water today is Extremely Urgent:
The pumps at Newton Reservoirs will be switched off tonight at 21:00 and will only be back in operation tomorrow night upon completion of the repair work.
Reason for the All-Day Water Supply Interruption:
Emergency repair work will be carried out on the bulk water supply pipeline on the Droogfontein CPA property and at Midstation near Roodepan.

⚠️URGENT NOTICE: PLANNED WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION FOR THE ENTIRE KIMBERLEY ON SUNDAY, 08 MARCH 2026
Reason: Repair work will be undertaken on two major bursts:
1. Cracked weld inside a chamber at Midstation near Roodepan; and
2. A scour branch cracked off the mainline and is leaking heavily at the Droogfontein CPA property near
Riverton.
Excessive volumes of water have been lost. Should the two leaks not be addressed, reservoirs at Newton are most likely to be depleted over time, resulting in a lack of water supply to households, businesses, and institutions.
📍Important Information: Residents are urged to store water for essential use for the entire day of Sunday, 08 March 2026.
Repair work is most likely to be completed into the evening.
