RIVERTON WATER PURIFICATION PLANTS EXPECTED TO BE IN FULL PRODUCTION TOMORROW
* The installation of a new abstraction pump drawing raw water from the Vaal River at Riverton remains on schedule.
Last week’s breaking down of one of the five abstraction pumps affected water production at the purification plants. Resultantly, the Newton Reservoirs full carrying capacity dropped.
• Pumping at full capacity for the replenishing of the reservoirs will start tomorrow, necessitating the lifting of the Nightly Water Supply Interruption on Sunday, 11 Aug 2024.

SCOPE OF WORK ON INSTALLATION OF NEW ABSTRACTION PUMP AT RIVERTON ON SCHEDULE
* The installation of a new abstraction pump drawing raw water from the Vaal River at Riverton is progressing well. A 200kVA transformer set to supply power to the pump was lifted into the pump station tower yesterday. Modifications on a new 110kW motor are being done, and it will also be fitted into the pump. All tasks are to be completed on Thursday and will be followed by full pumping capacity.

• The reservoirs levels are currently at 11feet, sufficient to provide supply outside of the Nightly Water Supply Interruption of 8PM to 5AM.
The Nightly Water Supply Interruption measure is set to be lifted this Sunday, 11 Aug 2024.
