Kimberley Water Supply UPDATE – 26 Sept 2022

UPDATE: 28 September 2022 – 11:28

Repairs are now complete, there already some areas that have their water restored. Please contact Sol Plaatje Municipality to indicate which areas do not have supply of water as yet so that SP can alert the waterworks teams to investigate as to why supply is delayed.

We thank u for your patience and understanding

UPDATE: 28 September 2022 – 08:04

Water pressure at Midlands is now at 4 Bar. Under normal conditions it should be at 8 Bar, which means the supply lines to Newton Reservoir are filling up. The pumps at Newton Reservoir will only be commissioned once pressure is restored, air from the system released and all valves are closed. Thereafter the system to all suburbs must also be flooded which normally takes between 90 to 120 minutes. So, as indicated yesterday, we should be having water in the taps during the late morning.

Sourced via Social Media.

UPDATE: 28 September 2022 – 07:00

Temporary repairs are complete, we have now opened the valves to fill up the system. Riverton has started pumping.

UPDATE: 27 September 2022 – 13:55

The Sol Plaatje Municipality is currently attending to a burst pipe on the main pipeline from Riverton that occurred late yesterday afternoon.

Preparation was made for equipment and access during the night so that work can commence this morning.

Water was interrupted this morning (Tue 27 Sept 2022) at 8am so as to empty the pipeline to effect the necessary repairs.

The pipeline has been emptied and the team is currently exposing the pipeline to assess the damage.

Once the pipe has been completely opened and assess further updates will be provided.

UPDATE: 26 September 2022 – 21:25

We have another leak at Mid-Station. We would need to close water tomorrow morning (Tues 27 Sept 2022) at 7am to assess extent of the damage, and to determine if we can effect emergency repairs tomorrow (Tues 27 Sept 2022). This will result in no water or low water pressure in most areas in Kimberley.
