POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION IN INNER-CITY AND SURROUNDING SUBURBIA
* Supply will be restored to most of the affected areas soon.
* Electrical Department reports that an 11kV switchgear exploded at Wales Street Substation; causing the Magistrates Court 11kV breaker to trip at Ashburnham Substation, as well as the Ashburnham Substation 66kV breaker to trip at Herlear Substation.
* Electricians will isolate Wales Street Substation and restore the supply.

POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION IN INNER-CITY AND SURROUNDING SUBURBIA
* Affected areas are Kimberley North, Ashburnham, CBD, West End, and Florianville.
These areas are fed from Ashburnham Substation.
Possible cause of the widespread outage; our Emergency Services (Fire Department) has reported a power box engulfed in flames in Compound Street – Department of Labour vicinity – which MIGHT have resulted 11kV trip at Ashburnham Substation.
Our electricians are still set to confirm. More updates to follow.
