Supply is Restored in Following Areas:
● Tyala Substation: Shantytown, Newtown, Santa, Sobantu, White City, and Greater Number Two.
Next to follow:
● Phutanang area, Platffontein, Promiseland, Transit Camp, and Snake Park.
All other areas will follow in a sequence of fifteen (15) minutes.
The Electrical Department will supply is restored to all areas this evening.

1. Exploded Neutral Earth Regulator (NER) was successfully dismantled; and the new one has been shifted closer for installation.

⚠️ UPDATE 4 – DAY 2: POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION DUE TO EXPLOSION AT GALESHEWE SUBSTATION
⚡ Latest:
1. Exploded Neutral Earth Regulator (NER) is being dismantled; and
2. Testing will be done on new NER to be installed. Thereafter, it will be commissioned for restoration of supply.
📍The Electrical Department managed to restore supply to some parts of Galeshewe drawing power from the Witdam and Five April substations; Blikkiesdorp and surrounds, and portions of Vergenoeg and Number Five. This was achieved by drawing supply from H.A Morris Substation as indicated in earlier updates.
* The team is working on cautiously restoring supply to additional areas such as Donkerhoek, Katimamolelo, and Retswelele.

Plans are afoot to minimise the outage by restoring supply to certain parts of Galeshewe via other substations: Carters Glen and H.A. Morris.
The technical team is liaising with the power utility, Eskom, to secure a replacement Neutral Earth Regulator (NER).
📍 Earliest Assessment:
The extent of damage to the NER that exploded at Galeshewe Substation is extensive, hence the widespread Galeshewe outage.
The source that sparked the NER explosion remains unknown and is under investigation.

The municipality hereby informs residents of Galeshewe that an explosion has occurred at the Galeshewe Substation.
📍Impact: Widespread outage in the entire Galeshewe township.
We plead for patience as the damage on the Neutral Earth Regulator (NER) is quite extensive and would result in longer hours for the restoration of power supply.
⚡A full assessment on the extent of the damage will determine the restoration of supply.
