Residents of the City are advised of a planned Water Supply Interruption for the entire city from 24th June 2021 (Thursday night) to 26th June 2021 (Saturday night). The objective is to enhance security of water supply to the community and its surrounding areas.

Nightly Water Shutdown
Sol Plaatje have stated that Newton Reservoir pumps are turned off nightly until an adequate water level is achieved.
Time of Nightly Water Shutdown: 22:00 – 04:00 / 10pm – 4am
PLEASE NOTE: As in the past, sometimes water was switched off earlier than specified or switched on later than the times mentioned.

COVID-19 INFO

As of today (19 June 2021), The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service, reports that 13,575 new COVID-19 cases have been identified in South Africa in the past 24 hours, representing a 23.2% positivity rate. The 7-day moving average daily number of cases has increased. The total number of laboratory-confirmed cases now stands at 1,810,164. A further 149 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 58,590.

12,493,891 tests have been conducted to date in both public and private sectors.

The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (62%), followed by Western Cape (11%).

North West accounted for 6%; Free State, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga each accounted for 4%; Eastern Cape and Limpopo each accounted for 3%; and Northern Cape accounted for 2% of today’s cases.

NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 19 JUNE 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 246 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province total currently stand at 56 370 people.
In today’s update, Frances Baard recorded the highest COVID-19 infections with 80, followed by ZF Mgcawu (65), Pixley ka Seme (48), Namakwa (36) and JT Gaetsewe (14) while 3 cases are unallocated.
Today, there six (6) newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the Province. The Province total cumulative deaths stands at 1 304.

The number of total active cases currently decreased to 7 938.
There were 180 people reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate stands at 84%, representing a cumulative total of 47 126 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
