As in previous occasions, should anything change regarding the grid, loadshedding could be implemented at short notice.
‼️Kimberley Refuse Collection – UPDATE‼️
Sol Plaatje Municipality’s Sanitation Department have confirmed that they will arrange to remove refuse bags which were scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday to be removed today (Thursday) if weather permits.
💧‼️ CURRENT WATER STATUS: ‼️💧
In a media release by Executive Mayor Patrick Mabilo, it was mentioned that the water supply will be interrupted in low lying areas at 18h00 till 05h00 whilst high lying areas will be interrupted at 20h00 to 05h00. Residents should however still use water sparingly otherwise the water situation will not return to normal and also to prevent possible earlier shutoff at Newton Reservoir if the need arises.

TODAY IS PECAN DAY
Pecan Day is a commemoration of the plating on a pecan tree by George Washington at the Mount Vernon estate March 25th 1775. The pecan tree sapling was gifted to him by Thomas Jefferson, who had planted a few pecan trees from the southern US at Monticello, VA. The pecan, native to southern North America, is sometimes called “America’s own nut.” First cultivated by Native Americans, it has been transplanted to other counties but as failed to achieve wide use or popularity outside the US.
There are many ways people can show their love for pecans – like grabbing a handful to munch on, adding them to salads, making a delightful pecan pie, eating pecan crusted fish for dinner or having pecan ice cream. Share the joy by throwing a fun Pecan Day party and pecans are a wonderful party snack that can be served in a variety of styles such as popular praline-flavoured pecans. Plant a lovely pecan tree to make it a memorable day to always come back to.

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (24 Mar 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases for South Africa is 1 540 009.
The cumulative total of tests conducted is 9 690 819 with 25 155 tests completed since the last report
Today, 121 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 4, Free State 38, Gauteng 24, Kwa-Zulu Natal 5, Limpopo 38, Mpumalanga 4, North West 0, Northern Cape 8 and Western Cape 0, which brings the total to 52 372 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
Our cumulative recoveries today stand at 1 466 595, representing a recovery rate of 95%
