Kimberley Sol Plaatje Municipal Rates & Tariffs for 2021/22 – as from 1 July 2021
Rates increase by 4,0%, electricity by 14,59% (domestic), water by 4,0%, sanitation by 4,0% and cleansing/refuse collection by 4,0%.

Sol Plaatje have stated that Newton Reservoir pumps are turned off nightly until an adequate water level is achieved.

As of today (07 August 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service, reports 12 371 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 523 488. This increase represents a 21.6% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 271 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 74 623 to date.
15 213 499 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from Western Cape (30%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (21%); Gauteng accounted for 16%; Eastern Cape accounted for 9%; Mpumalanga accounted for 7%; North West & Free State each accounted for 5% respectively, and Limpopo & Northern Cape each accounted for 3% respectively of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 07 AUG 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 375 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province cumulative total stand at 69 979 people infected with COVID-19.
Today, ZF Mgcawu recorded the highest COVID-19 infections with 119 cases, followed by Pixley ka Seme (79), Frances Baard (73), JT Gaetsewe (60) and Namakwa (40) while 4 cases are unallocated.
Today, there were eleven (11) new deaths related to COVID-19 complications reported across the Province, which occured in the past 30 days. These deaths are from: ZF Mgcawu (3), Frances Baard (1), JT Gaetsewe (3), Pixley ka Seme (1) and 3 deaths unallocated. The Province cumulative total deaths increases to 1 805.

The number of total active cases currently stands at 5 966.
There were 359 people reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate remain at 89%, representing a cumulative total of 62 206 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
