As in previous occasions, should anything change regarding the grid, loadshedding could be implemented at short notice.
💧‼️ CURRENT WATER STATUS: ‼️💧
In a media release by Executive Mayor Patrick Mabilo, it was mentioned that the water supply will be interrupted in low lying areas at 18h00 till 05h00 whilst high lying areas will be interrupted at 20h00 to 05h00. Residents should however still use water sparingly otherwise the water situation will not return to normal and also to prevent possible earlier shutoff at Newton Reservoir if the need arises.

TODAY IS SIBLING DAY
It would be difficult to contest the fact that the bond between siblings is extra-special! Especially because many of them have spent most of their entire lives together. Many people can’t even remember a time when their siblings weren’t part of their lives. Some of them even shared a womb at the same time, if they were born as multiples!
Sibling bonds are often life-long relationships, usually lasting from cradle to grave. Since siblings are most likely from the same generation, these are often the longest relationships of a person’s life–much longer than a mother’s and father’s relationship.
Siblings Day is a way of honouring the special bond that happens within families, as brothers and sisters share life together from childhood into adulthood and even into old age.
It’s time to celebrate Siblings Day!

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (09 Apr 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases for South Africa is 1 556 242.
The number of tests conducted to date is 10 086 459. Of these 30 560 tests were completed since the last report.
Today, 53 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 0, Free State 12, Gauteng 11, Kwa-Zulu Natal 2, Limpopo 2, Mpumalanga 0, North West 0, Northern Cape 10 and Western Cape 16, which brings the total to 53 226 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
Our cumulative recoveries today stand at 1 481 637, representing a recovery rate of 95%.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 09 APRIL 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 114 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province cumulative total is now standing at 36 869 people. The three (3) previously confirmed cases which were wrongly allocated to the Province have been re-allocated correctly as a result of the ongoing data verification.
In today’s report, Frances Baard recorded the highest positive cases (34), followed by JT Gaetsewe and Namakwa with 24 cases each, ZF Mgcawu (17) and Pixley ka Seme (15).
There were ten (10) new COVID-19 related deaths reported today with eight (8) occurring in the past 72 hours while rest are from previous months due to delays in reporting. These deaths are as follows: 5 x Frances Baard, 2 x JT Gaetsewe and 3 x unallocated. The Province total cumulative deaths due to COVID-19 complications is now standing at 840.

The number of total active cases in the Province is currently standing at 2 926.
There were 43 people reported to have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. The Province average recovery rate currently stands at 90%, representing a cumulative total of 33 101 people who have recovered from COVID-19.

VACCINES SAVE LIVES – VACCINATION ROLL-OUT
Between 08 and 09 April 2021 (yesterday and today), 197 vaccinations were administered at the Prieska outreach site (Pixley ka Seme district). The total number of Healthcare Workers vaccinated across the Province is currently standing at 5 691 since the vaccination campaign started on 17 February 2021.
