Kimberley Sol Plaatje Municipal Rates & Tariffs for 2021/22 – as from 1 July 2021
Rates increase by 4,0%, electricity by 14,59% (domestic), water by 4,0%, sanitation by 4,0% and cleansing/refuse collection by 4,0%.

Sol Plaatje have stated that Newton Reservoir pumps are turned off nightly until an adequate water level is achieved.

PLEASE NOTE: As in the past, sometimes water was switched off earlier than specified or switched on later than the times mentioned.

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (29 August 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 7,740 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2,764,931. This increase represents a 17.0% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 134 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 81,595 to date.
16,393,971 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from KwaZulu-Natal (29%), followed by Western Cape (22%). Eastern Cape accounted for 15%; Gauteng Province accounted for 8%; Northern Cape accounted for 7%; Free State and Mpumalanga accounted for 6% each; North West accounted for 4%; and Limpopo Province accounted for 2% of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 29 AUG 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 578 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province has a cumulative total of 80 666 people infected with COVID-19.
ZF Mgcawu reported the highest daily COVID-19 infections today, with 199 cases, followed by Frances Baard (112), Pixley ka Seme (107), Namakwa (88) and JT Gaetsewe (69) while 3 cases are unallocated. At the end of this week, most of new cases reported were from ZF Mgcawu and Namakwa, accounting 30% and 22%, respectively, to the Province total weekly reported new cases.
Today, there were nine (9) newly recorded deaths (related to COVID-19 complications) reported across the Province within the last 72 hours. These new deaths are from: Frances Baard (3), JT Gaetsewe (2), Namakwa (2) and Pixley ka Seme (2). The Province cumulative total deaths increased to 1 973.

The number of total active cases is currently standing at 7 488.
There were 446 people reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate stands at 88%, representing a cumulative total of 71 203 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
