COVID-19 INFO
As of today (07 May 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 592 626.
The number of tests conducted to date is 10 831 738. Of these 25 934 tests were conducted since the last report.
Today, 67 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 1, Free State 0, Gauteng 13, Kwa-Zulu Natal 5, Limpopo 26, Mpumalanga 2, North West 0, Northern Cape 10 and Western Cape 10, which brings the total to 54 687 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients.
The cumulative recoveries now stand at 1 513 202, representing a recovery rate of 95%.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 07 May 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 365 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province cumulative total is now standing at 41 529 people. The two (2) previously confirmed cases that were wrongly allocated to the Province have been removed through ongoing data verification.
Frances Baard continues recording the highest daily cases, today reporting 169 cases, followed by Pixley ka Seme (72), ZF Mgcawu (71), JT Gaetsewe (37) and Namakwa with 11 cases while 5 cases are unallocated. Today’s reported cases are the highest since 16 January this year, where more than 350 new cases were reported in a day.
In three successive days, the Frances Baard district reported more than 100 daily new cases, accounting more than half of the Province cases.
Today, there were ten (10) newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths, with seven occurring in the past 72 hours while three are from previous months due to delays in reporting. These deaths were from three districts: 2 x Frances Baard, 1 x JT Gaetsewe and 7 x ZF Mgcawu. The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 918.

The number of total active cases in the Province currently stand at 3 757.
There were 152 people reported to have recovered from the disease in the past 72 hours. The Province average recovery rate currently stands at 89%, representing a cumulative total of 36 852 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
