UPDATE 7 – DAY 2: BRIEF POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION IN PHOMOLONG (GALESHEWE)
Reason: Residents of Phomolong, please let know that your power supply will be briefly interrupted in the course of this afternoon.
– Our Electrical Department will be drawing supply from the Phomolong Substation to energise Kutlwanong Substation.
– Whilst attempts are made to lay new cable for the Kutlwanong Substation, providing immediate relief to the area is drawing supply from Phomolong Substation.
We apologise for the inconvenience, especially in considering that matriculants and many learners are writing all important final year examinations.

UPDATE 6 – DAY 2: POWER SUPPLY RESTORATION EFFORTS – TYALA STREET SUBSTATION BACK ONLINE
Power supply has been restored to all areas supplied from the Tyala Street Substation;
* Shantytown, Greater Number Two, White City, Sobantu, Santa (Galeshewe Stadium and surrounds), and John Daka.
Repair work in progress at Kutlwanong Substation, where a 150-metre long cable is being channelled.
Areas still affected by an outage and supplied from the above substation are:
* Kutlwanong, Kagisho, Club 2000, Soul City, and surrounds.
Outage Background:
1. A Neutral Earthing Resistor (NER) exploded at the Galeshewe Substation (depo) yesterday afternoon, resulting in a widespread Galeshewe outage.
2. Resulting from the explosion, Feeder Fault Ends burned out at Tyala Street and Kutlwanong substations.
We apologise for the inconvenience, especially in considering that matriculants and many learners are writing all important and final year examinations.

UPDATE 5 – DAY 2: POWER SUPPLY RESTORATION EFFORTS – LARGE PARTS OF GALESHEWE ARE BACK ONLINE
We provide feedback on Tyala Street and Kutlwanong substations thus:
* Tyala Street Substation – Shantytown, Greater Number Two, White City, Sobantu, Santa (Galeshewe Stadium and surrounds), and John Daka- will be back online at 10:00 or just after.
* Kutlwanong Substation: Kutlwanong, Kagisho, Club 2000, Soul City, and surrounds – will be back online at midday or earlier. Our Electrical Department team is laying a 150-metre long cable from the Kutlwanong Substation.

* Areas that are still set to be offline are those supplied from the Tyala Street and Kutlwanong substations; Shantytown, White City, portion of Greater Number Two, Kutlwanong, Club 2000 and Soul City amongst others.
* Our electricians will ensure all areas are back online.

Latest: This notice serves to assure all affected residents that our electricians are actively undertaking repair work at the Galeshewe Substation, where a Neutral Earthing Resistor (NER) exploded earlier, causing a widespread outage.
Important Information:
– The severity of the damage necessitates the replacement of component(s).
– Regrettably, the outage may persist into the late evening, as per the current assessment.
– Burnt ends at the Tshwaragano and Tyala Street substations also require replacement.
