Update 04/02/2016 –
According to the latest information from Sol Plaatje Municipality the road closure will continue for at least another three weeks.
“All the work that needs to be done is very much on track,” Matsie said yesterday. “However, we are going to have to wait for the concrete to dry completely before opening the road again as we would like to be sure that the work is firmly set. We expect this to take about three weeks.”
The “secretive” road closure on the c/o Jacobus Smit Avenue and Waterworks/Gerrit Schouten has been confirmed as part of the preparations for the water shut-down scheduled for Tuesday, 26 January 2016.
In a DFA interview Sello Matsie, the Municipal Spokesperson, stated that the water shutdown might “take two days at the most” and it may take between two and three weeks for the work on the corner to be completed … “if all went according to plan”
