UPDATE: Wednesday 18th August 2021 – Time: 11:30
There is steady progress on our Bulk Sewer Infrastructure upgrades which should ultimately result in better performance of the network.
The Barkley and Seleke Street intersection outfall line was frequently blocked including collapsed sewer pipes. Upgrades on this line is currently underway and at 80% completion.
Another project was than implemented to install a designated sewer line from Gogga Pump Station to Homevale Waste Water Treatment Works which is now complete and operational.
These includes repairs on the Eagle Street Sewer line in Roodepan. In Spreeu Street (also in Roodepan) we continue to alleviate the current challenges with a view of replacing the 9 meters deep line.
The Municipality is currently in the construction phase of the Carters Ridge Sewer Pump Station. It will be a newly constructed Pump Station that will replace the old Hillcrest and Carters Glen Pump Stations that are currently operating above their design capacity resulting in blockages.
There will be possible sewer blockages experienced in the surrounding areas, however the Sanitation teams will continue attending to those complaints.
