Kimberley Power Outages – 04/06/2025

UPDATE 3: POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION NOW RESTRICTED TO AREAS FEEDING FROM ASHBURNHAM HALL SUBSTATIONS
*POWER SUPPLY TO THE ENTIRE GALESHEWE TOWNSHIP AND MIDLANDS AREA WILL BE INTERRUPTED FOR TWO HOURS OR LESS.
The municipality’s electrical team restored power supply to areas supplied by MacDougall, Herlear, Carters Glen, and Hadison Park substations.
The outage is now restricted to areas supplied by Ashburnham and Hall Street substations; parts of the CBD, Kimberley North, West End, and Florianville.
The Electrical team has embarked on its second mission; in bringing Ashburnham and Hall Street substations back on line from H.A Morris Substation, supply to the entire Galeshewe and Midlands will be affected for two hours or less.
More information will follow on the course of action.

UPDATE 2: POWER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION IN LARGE PARTS OF KIMBERLEY
A large electrical team is working to restore power supply in Kimberley after a circuit breaker linked to a voltage transformer explosion at Herlear Substation.
Progress
1. Restoration efforts: The team is working to isolate the faulty feeder and energize other substations (MacDougall, Hadison Park, and Carters Glen) to restore
power supply.
2. Expected timeline: Power is expected to be restored to areas feeding from the above substations within under an hour.
Areas Affected
1. Areas offline: Ashburnham and Hall Street substations will remain offline temporarily.
2. Alternative solution: These areas will be connected from H.A Morris Substation.
Next Steps
1. Focused repair work: Repair work on the circuit breaker will continue over the weekend.

Source: Trip at Herlear Substation, possibly emanating from Voltage Transformer explosion.
