Kimberley Water Supply UPDATES – February 2025

UPDATE: 13 February 2025 – 15:00

WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION – BEACONSFIELD, HERLEAR, BELGRAVIA (CARRINGTON ROAD AND MEMORIAL ROAD)

Cause: Two separate leaks; 75mm and 350mm steel pipes located in Carrington Road.

Repair Work: Waterworks team repaired one of the leaks, and excavation underway for the second leak.

Impact: Low pressure to no-tap-flow in Beaconsfield, Herlear, Belgravia, Carrington Road, and Memorial Road.

Safety Advisory

Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution when driving near the corner Carrington Road and Poole Street.

The municipality regrets the inconvenience.

NEWTON RESERVOIRS – EMERGENCY SWITCH-OFF

Cause: Three leaks on two separate 300mm diameter steel pipes located on the Newton Reservoirs precinct are being repaired.

Nightly Water Supply Interruption

Will be delayed until 22:30.

Impact: Low pressure to no-tap-flow in high-lying areas.

ALERT: NEWTON RESERVOIRS – EMERGENCY SWITCH-OFF

Cause: Major pipe burst on the precinct; steel pipe.

Proper assessment is being done to determine whether pumps can be put into operation whilst repair work unfolds.

Impact: Low pressure to no-tap-flow in high-lying areas.

According to Social Media reports, it appears as though Newton Reservoir has been switched off to repair leaks. Unfortunately this is the only info we have at this time. If/when Sol Plaatje release a statement, we will share it out.

Many areas are currently experiencing little to no water pressure as a result of the above.

According to Sol Plaatje Call Centre and Waterworks, Newton Reservoir has been switched off to repair leaks. Unfortunately this is the only info we have at this time. If/when Sol Plaatje release a statement, we will share it out.
