TODAY IS BEER AND PIZZA DAY

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (8 October 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 924 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 910 681. This increase represents a 2.8% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 132 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 88 236 to date.
17 931 034 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from Western Cape (22%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (19%). Gauteng Province accounted for 15%; Free State accounted for 12%; Eastern Cape accounted for 11%; Northern Cape accounted for 7%; Mpumalanga and North West each accounted for 5% respectively; and Limpopo accounted for 4% of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 08 OCTOBER 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 63 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province cumulative total currently stands at 91 431 people infected with COVID-19.
In today’s update, Frances Baard having the highest infections with 21 cases, followed by ZF Mgcawu (17), while Pixley ka Seme, Namakwa and JT Gaetsewe had 10, 8 and 7, respectively.
Today, there were four (4) new deaths (related to COVID-19 complications) reported across the Province. These new cases are from: Frances Baard (1), JT Gaetsewe (1), Namakwa (1) and ZF Mgcawu (1). The Province total cumulative deaths currently stands at 2 215.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases currently standing at 4 367.
There were 255 people reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate is currently standing at 92%, representing a cumulative total of 84 849 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
