COVID-19 INFO
As of today (28 June 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service, reports 12,222 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 1, 941,119. This increase represents a 28.3 % positivity rate. A further 138 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 60,038 to date.
13,011,903 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The Gauteng province accounts for the majority of new cases (69%), followed by the Western Cape (7%).
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 28 JUNE 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 131 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today, bringing the Province total to 58 663 people. The Province contributed 1% to today’s national newly recorded cases.
In today’s update, ZF Mgcawu recorded the highest COVID-19 infections with 47, followed by Namakwa (34), Frances Baard (31), JT Gaetsewe (13) and Pixley ka Seme (6).
Today, two (2) newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths were reported from the ZF Mgcawu district. The Province total cumulative remain increasing slightly to 1 368.

The number of total active cases currently stand at 7 270.
Today, 316 people were reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate stand at 85%, representing a cumulative total of 50 023 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
