YOUNG MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN KENILWORTH ACCIDENT

Netcare 911 paramedics responded to an accident in Kenilworth Road, Kimdustria at around 16:00 on Saturday, 8 April 2017.

The 21 year old man reportedly crashed into the bridge while trying to cross the flooded Kenilworth subway despite signs indicating the road was closed.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the crumpled remains of the car consistent with that of a high impact collision on the embankment with the rear still in the water, and the driver trapped in the wreckage.

The paramedics worked tirelessly to stabilise the injured driver while the firemen used the Jaws of Life to free him from the wreckage.

After extracted from the vehicle he was transported to a local hospital while under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic.
