UPDATE: 8 May 2025 – 15:00
ALERT: RIVERTON WATER TREATMENT PLANT AND NEWTON RESERVOIRS PUMPS SWITCHED-OFF
Cause: An electrical cable fault at the Highlift Pumpstation of the old Riverton Treatment Plant.
The switching off at the Newton Reservoirs is done in order to avoid draining the dams, resulting in unrecoverable levels that might necessitate water shedding or an ongoing interruption of supply.
Action: Electrical repairs are currently underway.
Unfortunately, pumping and supply are expected to be restored by midnight.
Impact: Low water pressure to possibly no tap flow in large parts of Kimberley into the evening.
We regret the inconvenience and trust that residents will bear with us.
Kind regards,
Thabo Mothibi
