Veterinarian Day was created in 2000 by the World Veterinary Association to highlight and promote the lifesaving work performed by veterinarians around the globe. COVID-19 INFO
As of today (23 Apr 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases for South Africa is 1 572 985.
The number of tests conducted to date is 10 481 576. Of these 33 903 tests were completed since the last report.
Today, 71 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 14, Free State 2, Gauteng 3, Kwa-Zulu Natal 5, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 3, North West 40, Northern Cape 2 and Western Cape 2, which brings the total to 54 066 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
Our cumulative recoveries today stand at 1 499 110, representing a recovery rate of 95%.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 23 APRIL 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 265 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province cumulative total is now standing at 38 885 people. The are three (3) previously confirmed cases that have been re-allocated back into the Province as a result of the ongoing data verification.
Frances Baard continue to registered high cases, today recording 108 cases, followed by Namakwa (61), ZF Mgacwu (36), Pixley ka Seme (34) and JT Gaetsewe (25) while one case is unallocated. The majority of the newly recorded cases in the Province are from Sol Plaatje and Nama Khoi local municipalities.
There were two (2) newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths reported today, from JT Gaetsewe (1) and ZF Mgcawu (1). The Province total cumulative deaths due to COVID-19 complications increases to 882.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases in the Province currently stand at 3 052.
There were 766 people reported to have recovered from the disease, this include backlogs from previous months due to delays in reporting. The Province average recovery rate currently stands at 90%, representing a cumulative total of 34 949 people who have recovered from COVID-19.

VACCINES SAVE LIVES – VACCINATION ROLL-OUT
The ongoing Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine program has been suspended as per National Health Ministry’s directive thus no vaccination took place today. The total number of Healthcare Workers vaccinated across the Province is currently standing at 5 995 since the vaccination campaign started on 17 February 2021.
