The Community of Riverton and surroundings are warned to avoid the banks of the River and not to risk fishing as the levels of the water are continuing to rise.
As indicated previously the staff at the Riverton Purification Plant are continuing with practical and possible treatment adjustments to minimise the impact on purified water quality.
Tests continue to be conducted for possible bacteria and serious abnormality shall be communicated accordingly. Should there be an increase in the volume of water released, The National Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) will notify us.
We reiterate that the impact may not be as severe as the initial releases since “river bed flushing” and pollution dilution has stabilized.
