Loadshedding outlook for the week of 26-31/01/2015

Currently the outlook for this week is grim with Eskom expecting demand to exceed supply on almost every working day.

On Monday, 26/01/2015 about a third (33.8%) of Eskom’s entire generating capacity was out of service with unplanned breakdowns reaching a high of 10 515 MW and  planned maintenance of 3 429MW.

The week ahead by the numbers

Eskom’s estimated peak demand and available capacity for the rest of this week (including open cycle gas turbines):

Tuesday (27 January): Estimated capacity available  is 30 427 MW while demand is forecasted at 30 857 MW.
Wednesday (28 January): Estimated capacity available  is 30 095 MW while demand is forecasted at 30 842 MW.
Thursday (29 January): Estimated capacity available  is 29 775 MW while demand is forecasted at 30 921 MW.
Friday (30 January): Estimated capacity available is 29 585 MW while demand is forecasted at 29 692 MW.
Saturday (31 January): Estimated capacity available is 29 425 MW while demand is forecasted at 28 336 MW.
Sunday (1 February): Estimated capacity available is 29 643 MW while demand is forecasted at 28 086 MW.
