COVID-19 INFO

As of today (28 September 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 1,367 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2,898,888. This increase represents a 8.6% positivity rate.

As per the National Department of Health, a further 201 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 87,417 to date.

17,603,913 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.

The majority of new cases today are from KwaZulu-Natal (27%), followed by Western Cape (18%), Eastern Cape and Gauteng Province accounted for 14% each; Free State accounted for 12%; Northern Cape accounted for 5%; Mpumalanga and North West accounted for 4% each; and Limpopo accounted for 2% of today’s new cases.

NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 28 SEP 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 75 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province cumulative total currently stands at 90 382 people infected with COVID-19. This is the third day in succession, less than 100 daily cases have been recorded in the Province.
In today’s update, JT Gaetsewe had the highest infections with 29 cases, followed by ZF Mgcawu (20), Frances Baard (17) and Pixley ka Seme (9) while in the Namakwa Seme district, no new infections were recorded.
There were six (6) new deaths (related to COVID-19 complications) reported today, with 6 occurring in the last 72 hours. These new deaths are from: Frances Baard (4), JT Gaetsewe (1) and Pixley ka Seme (1) . The Province total cumulative deaths currently increased to 2 182.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases is standing at 5 665.
There were 129 people reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate remains 91%, representing a cumulative total of 82 533 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
