COVID-19 INFO
As of today (08 May 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 594 817.
The number of tests conducted to date is 10 861 611. Of these 29 873 tests were conducted since the last report.
Today, 37 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 0, Free State 2, Gauteng 21, Kwa-Zulu Natal 7, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 0, North West 0, Northern Cape 7 and Western Cape 0 which brings the total to 54 724 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients.
The cumulative recoveries now stand at 1 514 088, representing a recovery rate of 95%.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 08 May 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 298 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province cumulative total is now standing at 41 830 people.
Frances Baard continues recording the highest daily cases, today reporting 132 cases, followed by Pixley ka Seme (66), ZF Mgcawu (37), JT Gaetsewe (32) and Namakwa with 28 cases while 3 cases are unallocated.
Today, there were seven (7) newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths. These deaths were from three districts: 2 x Frances Baard, 2 x JT Gaetsewe, 1 x Namakwa, 1 x ZF Mgcawu and 1 unallocated. The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 925.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases in the Province have reached the 4 000 mark, currently standing at 4 005.
There were 46 people reported to have recovered from the disease in the past 72 hours. The Province average recovery rate currently stands at 89%, representing a cumulative total of 36 898 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
