Residents of the City are advised of a planned Water Supply Interruption for the entire city from 24th June 2021 (Thursday night) to 27th June 2021 (early Sunday morning). The objective is to enhance security of water supply to the community and its surrounding areas.

Please be advised of a Road closure during the Water Supply Interruption period (24-27 June 2021). A portion of Waterworks Street will be closed from the corner of Jacobus Smit Avenue until the T-Junction at Reservoir Road.

Sol Plaatje have stated that Newton Reservoir pumps are turned off nightly until an adequate water level is achieved.
Time of Nightly Water Shutdown: 22:00 – 04:00 / 10pm – 4am

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (23 June 2021), 17,493 new COVID-19 cases have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 1,861,065. This increase represents a 24.9% positivity rate.
A further 166 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 59 258 to date.
12 703 421 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from the Gauteng province (62%), followed by the Western Cape (10%).
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 23 JUNE 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 297 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province total currently stand at 57 467 people.
In today’s update, Frances Baard recorded the highest COVID-19 infections with 105, followed by ZF Mgcawu (67), Pixley ka Seme (63), JT Gaetsewe (31) and Namakwa (25) while 6 cases are unallocated.
Today, there was one (1) newly recorded COVID-19 related death reported in the Province, from Frances Baard. The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 1 333.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases decreased to 7 363.
Today, 785 people were reported to have recovered from the disease, included are recoveries from previous months due to delays in reporting. The Province average recovery rate increased to 85%, representing a cumulative total of 48 769 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
