COVID-19 INFO
As of today (15 May 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 611 143.
The number of tests conducted to date is 11 087 505. Of these 34 512 tests were conducted since the last report.
Today, 59 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 0, Free State 5, Gauteng 20, Kwa-Zulu Natal 8, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 2, North West 0, Northern Cape 18 and Western Cape 6 which brings the total to 55 183 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients.
The cumulative recoveries now stand at 1 523 243 representing a recovery rate of 94,5%.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 15 May 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 438 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province cumulative total is currently standing at 44 031 people. For the second time this week, the Province is reporting more than 400 new cases making this the second highest daily reported cases. Apart from Frances Baard, Pixley ka Seme and ZF Mgcawu are also experiencing substantially higher cases.
Today, Pixley ka Seme has recorded the highest infections surpassing Frances Baard, with 176 cases, followed by Frances Baard (105), ZF Mgcawu (87), JT Gaetsewe (57) and Namakwa (12) while 1 case is unallocated. Today’s cases in Pixley ka Seme were influenced by Siyancuma LM, which has recorded 40% (65 of 176) of the district reported cases.
Today, there are eighteen (18) newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths that were reported, with thirteen (13) occuring in the last 72 hours. The newly recorded deaths are from: Frances Baard (7), JT Gaetsewe (1), Namakwa (1), Pixley ka Seme (2) and ZF Mgacwu (7). The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 978.

The number of total active cases in the Province currently stand at 5 560.
There were 29 people reported to have recovered from the disease in the past 72 hours. The Province average recovery rate stand at 85%, representing a cumulative total of 37 491 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
