COVID-19 INFO
As of today (28 May 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa on 28 May 2021 is 1 654 551, with 4 575 new cases reported over the past 24 hours.
The number of tests conducted to date is 11 535 429. Of these 39 802 tests were conducted since the last report.
In the last 24 hours, 123 deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 0, Free State 38, Gauteng 23, KwaZulu-Natal 6, Limpopo 16, Mpumalanga 6, North West 0, Northern Cape 30 and Western Cape 4 which brings the total to 56 293 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients.
The cumulative recoveries now stand at 1 551 520 representing a recovery rate of 93,8%.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 28 May 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 317 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province total cumulative currently stand at 49 363 people.
In today’s update, Frances Baard continues to record the highest COVID-19 infections (82), followed by ZF Mgcawu and Pixley ka Seme both with 75 cases each, JT Gaetsewe (67) and Namakwa (15) while 3 cases are unallocated.
Today, there were thirty (30) newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths reported; this high number is as a result of the data mop-up the Province is undertaking to address any backlogs. These deaths are from: 8 x Frances Baard, 10 x JT Gaetsewe, 2 x Pixley ka Seme, 8 x ZF Mgcawu and 2 x Unallocated. The Province total cumulative deaths has now increased to 1 076.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases decreased slightly and standing at 7 410.
There were 546 people reported to have recovered from the disease, including recoveries from previous months due to delays in reporting. The Province average recovery rate stand at 83%, representing a cumulative total of 40 875 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
