TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES – CBD: 24 Nov – 11 Dec 2020

ROADS will be closed for maintenance in the Kimberley CBD between 24 November 2020 and 11 December 2020. Sello Matsie, the spokesperson for Sol Plaatje Municipality, said that priority and main roads will also undergo periodic maintenance and intensive resealing.
Roads affected include sections of Quinn Street (between Phakamile Mabija & Lennox Street), Long Street (between Carters Road & Waterworks Road), Bultfontein and Quinn Streets.

Current dam levels are increasing, so no Nightly Shutdown is envisaged. Repairs are also being done on major pipe bursts. If anything changes, we will keep all updated.

World Hello Day may sound extremely basic, as it encourages us to take the opportunity to simply greet people, and to recognize how important simple communication is in our daily lives. The story of how it came to be, however, is a long and interesting one.
How to Celebrate World Hello Day
Participating in World Hello Day is quite simple: all you have to do is say hello to at least 10 people during that one day. This is supposed to send a message of openness and goodwill to others, and the creators of the holiday hoped this small gesture alone would demonstrate how communication can be instrumental in resolving disputes and preventing conflicts.

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (20 Nov 2020), we report with concern that the new cases identified in the past 24 hours are 3 105.
This gives a cumulative total of COVD-19 cases in South Africa to be 762 763. We wish to highlight that we have breached the 3000 mark for daily new cases. Of these new cases, more than half (54,4%) are from the Eastern Cape. We are also concerned that the positivity is at 12%, which is higher than what is ideal, i.e. 10% or less.
The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 5 243 055 with 29 019 new tests conducted since the last report.
Regrettably, 88 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 67, Free State 15, Gauteng 2, Kwa-Zulu Natal 1 and Western Cape 3.
This brings the total to 20 759 deaths. We have noted that the number of new deaths being reported daily in the Eastern Cape is rising as well.
We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers that treated the deceased patients.
Our recoveries now stand at 707 040 which translates to a recovery rate of 92,7%
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 20 NOVEMBER 2020
The Minister of Health announced an additional 74 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape, bringing the cumulative total to 22 905 people.
No new COVID-19 related death was reported in the past 48 hours.
The number of recoveries stands at 19 275 with the recovery rate remaining 84%.
