COVID-19 INFO
As of today (14 May 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa is 1 608 393.
The number of tests conducted to date is 11 052 993. Of these 41 994 tests were conducted since the last report.
Today, 112 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 1, Free State 42, Gauteng 14, Kwa-Zulu Natal 5, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 0, North West 40, Northern Cape 0 and Western
Cape 10 which brings the total to 55 124 deaths.
Free State and North West have back captured data over several months as part of their auditing processes.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased patients.
The cumulative recoveries now stand at 1 522 165, representing a recovery rate of 94,6%
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 14 May 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 399 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province cumulative total is currently standing at 43 593 people. Today’s reported cases set another record since the start of the pandemic in the Province, this is the second highest daily after yesterday’s 454 reported cases. The Province cases has entered the resurgence period with alarmingly high cases, with 42% increase in new cases in the current 7-day period.
Due to ongoing data cleaning, seven (7) previously confirmed cases have been re-allocated back into the Province after being wrongly allocated to other Provinces.
Frances Baard continues to record high infections in the Province (more than 100 cases, three days in a row), today reporting 157 cases, followed by Pixley ka Seme (107), ZF Mgcawu (68), JT Gaetsewe (52) and Namakwa (14) while 1 case is unallocated.
Today, there are no newly recorded COVID-19 related deaths that were reported. The Province total cumulative deaths remain at 960.

The number of total active cases in the Province has surpassed the 5000 mark, currently standing at 5 169.
There were 61 people reported to have recovered from the disease in the past 72 hours. The Province average recovery rate stand at 87%, representing a cumulative total of 37 462 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
