Planned Electrical Interruption: MacDougall Substation – 5 & 6 December 2020

Residents are kindly notified of a planned Electrical Interruption on 5 & 6 December 2020 between 08:00 and 17:00 for maintenance work / improvements to be made on the Macdougall Substation. This interruption will only affect areas serviced by the MacDougall Substation.
TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES – CBD: 24 Nov – 11 Dec 2020

ROADS will be closed for maintenance in the Kimberley CBD between 24 November 2020 and 11 December 2020. Sello Matsie, the spokesperson for Sol Plaatje Municipality, said that priority and main roads will also undergo periodic maintenance and intensive resealing.
Roads affected include sections of Quinn Street (between Phakamile Mabija & Lennox Street), Long Street (between Carters Road & Waterworks Road), Bultfontein and Quinn Streets.

Current dam levels are increasing, so no Nightly Shutdown is envisaged. Repairs are also being done on major pipe bursts. If anything changes, we will keep all updated.

One annual celebration you might be forgiven for not participating in (or even knowing about) is World Soil Day. Yes, soil—as in that sticky brown stuff that gets walked all over your prized cream carpets. Sadly, it is our ignorance about the importance of soil and the degree to which we take advantage of all that it offers that have led to a drastic reduction in its quality the world over.
How to celebrate World Soil Day
The best way to celebrate this day is to do exactly what scientists the world over so badly needs to: educate ourselves. An enormous amount of damage is done to the planet every year due not to ill will, but to ignorance—many of us simply do not know enough about the earth to know when we are damaging it, sometimes irreparably.

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (04 Dec 2020), the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases is 805 804 with 4 932 new cases identified since the last report.
A cumulative 5 534 084 tests have been completed, of which 33 415 have been conducted since the last report.
Regrettably 160 deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 69, Free State 26, Gauteng 6, Kwa-Zulu Natal 10, Limpopo 6, Northern Cape 12 and Western Cape 31.
This brings the total to 21 963 deaths
We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers that treated the deceased patients.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 04 DECEMBER 2020
The Minister of Health announced an additional 74 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape, bringing the cumulative total to 23 377 people.
Due to ongoing data verification, 5 positive cases that were wrongly allocated to the Province were removed and re-allocated to their Provinces. Furthermore, there’s also been reallocation of positive cases between sub-districts in the Frances Baard after confirmation of correct location than previously reported.
Sadly, today we report 12 new COVID-19 related deaths, all from the Magareng sub-district, Frances Baard district. All these deaths are from previous months as a result of continuing data verification. The total cumulative deaths related to COVID-19 complications now stands at 325 in the Province.
Our heartfelt sympathy to the loved ones of the departed.
The number of recoveries stands at 20 777 with 89% recovery rate.
