The Sol Plaatje Municipality hereby announces water restrictions starting Wednesday 11 December 2024 at 21H00.
Re-Introduction of Daytime Water Supply Interruption
Faced with the current high temperatures and the related challenges explained above, the interruptions will be effected as follows:
Daytime: 12:00 to 17:00
Nightly: 21:00 to 04:00
SMART PREPAID ELECTRICITY METER ROLL-OUT

Sol Plaatje Local Municipality is the proud beneficiary of a National Treasury grant that will enable the roll-out of smart prepaid electricity meters. The grant will enable the Municipality to continue with its modernisation project. Through this Project the municipality will roll-out prepaid smart electricity meters in various areas.

TODAY IS DAY OF RECONCILIATION
The Day of Reconciliation is a public holiday in South Africa held annually on 16 December. The holiday came into effect in 1995 after the end of apartheid, with the intention of fostering reconciliation and national unity for the country. The date was chosen because it was significant to both Afrikaner and African cultures. The government chose a meaningful date for both ethnic groups because they recognised the need for racial harmony. The celebration of the Day of Reconciliation can take the form of remembering past history, recognising veteran’s contributions, marching, and other festivities.
