COVID-19 INFO
As of today (28 October 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 533 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2,921,114. This increase represents a 1.7% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 55 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 89,104 to date.
18,471,818 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from Gauteng (28%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal accounting for 17%. Western Cape accounted for 14%; Free State accounted for 10%; Northern Cape accounted for 8%; Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga each accounted for 7% respectively; North West accounted for 5%; and Limpopo accounted for 4% of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 28 OCTOBER 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 40 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province cumulative total currently stands at 92 401 people infected with COVID-19.
In today’s update, Frances Baard reported the highest infections with 14 cases, followed by JT Gaetsewe (11), Namakwa (6), ZF Mgacwu (5) and Pixley ka Seme (1) while 3 cases are unallocated.
Today, there were five (5) new deaths (related to COVID-19 complications) reported across the Province, all occurred during this month. These new deaths are from: Frances Baard (4) and 1 is unallocated. The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 2 251.

The number of total active cases currently standing at 1 608.
The Province average recovery rate stand at 96%, representing a cumulative total of 88 542 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
