TODAY IS NEW YEAR’S DAY
Nearly the entire world recognizes New Year’s Day on January 1st. It’s also one of the most celebrated holidays of the year.

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (31 Dec 2020) the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases identified is 1 057 161 with 18 000 cases identified since the last report.
A cumulative 6 609 208 tests have been conducted with 55 447 tests completed since the last report.
Regrettably, 436 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 57, Free State 1, Gauteng 84, Kwa-Zulu Natal 116, Limpopo 20, Mpumalanga 4, Northern Cape 4 and
Western Cape 150 which brings the total to 28 469 deaths.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
Our recoveries currently stand at 879 671. This represents a recovery rate of 83%.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 31 DECEMBER 2020
The Minister of Health announced an additional 162 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape, bringing the cumulative total to 25 314 people.
There were twelve (12) previously confirmed cases that were wrongly reported under Northern Cape which have been removed and re-allocated to the correct Provinces as a result of ongoing data cleaning proccesess. There’s also one (1) previously confirmed case that has been re-allocated back into the Province.
In today’s report, Namakwa recorded the highest new positive cases (53), followed by Pixley Ka Seme (52), Frances Baard (32), ZF Mgcawu (17) and JT Gaetsewe (8).
Sadly we report four (4) new COVID-19 related deaths: 1 from Dawid Kruiper LM, 1 from !Kheis LM, both in ZF Mgcawu district and 2 from Nama Khoi LM, Namakwa district. With these new deaths, the Province total cumulative deaths due to COVID-19 complications stands at 390.
We convey our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases stands at 1 851 in the Province.
The number of recoveries increased to 23 071 with the recovery rate of 91%.
