Throughout the world millions of people are affected by arthritis, their lives being changed by the sometimes constant pain of inflamed joints. World Arthritis Day is a day to remember and raise awareness of this condition, and how it affects the lives of those that suffer with it. World Arthritis day was brought about by the Arthritis Foundation to do just that, and to encourage policymakers to help lower the burden of those suffering from Arthritis all over the world.

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (11 October 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 201 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2,912,346. This increase represents a 3.3% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 29 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 88,346 to date.
17,988,526 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from KwaZulu-Natal (28%), followed by Gauteng Province (22%). Western Cape accounted for 16%; Eastern Cape accounted for 14%; Northern Cape accounted for 5%; Mpumalanga accounted for 4%; Free State and North West each accounted for 3% respectively; and Limpopo accounted for 2% of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 11 OCTOBER 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 11 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province cumulative total currently stands at 91 616 people infected with COVID-19.
In today’s update, four districts in the Province reported less than 10 new cases, with exception of Pixley ka Seme where no new cases were recorded. The Province positivity rate (people confirmed with Covid-19 from those tested) is 6% from tests conducted in the past 24 hours.
Today, there were no new deaths (related to COVID-19 complications) reported across the Province. The Province total cumulative deaths currently stands at 2 219.

The number of total active cases currently standing at 4 406.
There were 99 people reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate is currently standing at 93%, representing a cumulative total of 84 991 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
