COVID-19 INFO
As of today (13 September 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 2 640 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 2 860 835. This increase represents a 10.4% positivity rate.
As per the National Department of Health, a further 125 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 85 002 to date.
17 098 529 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.
The majority of new cases today are from Eastern Cape (33%), followed by KwaZulu-Natal (23%). Free State accounted for 10%; Western Cape and Northern Cape accounted for 9% each; Mpumalanga accounted for 7%; Gauteng Province accounted for 6%; North West accounted for 4%; and Limpopo accounted for <1% of today’s new cases.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 13 SEP 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 229 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape in the past 24 hours. The Province has a cumulative total of 86 947 people infected with COVID-19.
ZF Mgcawu reported the highest infections today with 71 cases, followed by Pixley ka Seme (47) whereas Frances Baard and Namakwa each having 38 cases and JT Gaetsewe with 35.
There were thirteen (13) newly recorded deaths (related to COVID-19 complications) reported today. These are from: Frances Baard (5), JT Gaetsewe (2), Namakwa (1), Pixley ka Seme (1) and ZF Mgcawu (4). The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 2 076.

The number of total active cases currently stand at 6 729.
There were 166 people reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate remains 90%, representing a cumulative total of 78 140 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
