Residents of the City are advised of a planned Water Supply Interruption for the entire city from 24th June 2021 (Thursday night) to 27th June 2021 (early Sunday morning). The objective is to enhance security of water supply to the community and its surrounding areas.

Please be advised of a Road closure during the Water Supply Interruption period (24-27 June 2021). A portion of Waterworks Street will be closed from the corner of Jacobus Smit Avenue until the T-Junction at Reservoir Road.

Sol Plaatje have stated that Newton Reservoir pumps are turned off nightly until an adequate water level is achieved.

COVID-19 INFO

As of today (26 June 2021), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), a division of the National Health Laboratory Service reports 17,958 new COVID-19 cases that have been identified in South Africa, which brings the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases to 1,913,861. This increase represents a 25.6 % positivity rate. A further 157 COVID-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing total fatalities to 59 778 to date.

12 912 828 tests have been conducted in both public and private sectors.

The Gauteng province accounts for the majority of new cases (63%), followed by the Western Cape (10 %).

NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 26 JUNE 2021
The National Department of Health announced an additional 270 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today, bringing the Province total to 58 344 people.
In today’s update, Frances Baard recorded the highest COVID-19 infections with 99, followed by ZF Mgcawu (55), Namakwa (51), Pixley ka Seme (41), and JT Gaetsewe (20) while 4 cases are unallocated.
Today, only one (1) newly recorded COVID-19 related death was reported in the Province. The Province total cumulative deaths increased to 1 366.
We convey our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the departed.
The number of total active cases currently stand at 7 321.
Today, 155 people were reported to have recovered from the disease. The Province average recovery rate stand at 85%, representing a cumulative total of 49 655 people who have recovered from COVID-19.
