As in previous occasions, should anything change regarding the grid, loadshedding could be implemented at short notice.
💧‼️ CURRENT WATER STATUS: ‼️💧
In a media release by Executive Mayor Patrick Mabilo, it was mentioned that the water supply will be interrupted in low lying areas at 18h00 till 05h00 whilst high lying areas will be interrupted at 20h00 to 05h00. Residents should however still use water sparingly otherwise the water situation will not return to normal and also to prevent possible earlier shutoff at Newton Reservoir if the need arises.

South Africa’s Human Rights Day, 21 March – declared International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination by the UN – is synonymous with the historic township Sharpeville, situated between the industrial cities of Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging about 50 kilometres south of Johannesburg.
The day, sometimes also called Heroes’ Day, was a watershed in the country’s liberation struggle, hence its inclusion in South Africa’s post-apartheid calendar. Yet more than 55 years on, the question still surfaces: what exactly happened that morning?

COVID-19 INFO
As of today (20 Mar 2021), the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases for South Africa is 1 536 801.
The cumulative total of tests conducted is 9 611 262 with 26 339 tests completed since the last report.
Today, 47 more COVID-19 related deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 2, Free State 3, Gauteng 9, Kwa-Zulu Natal 21, Limpopo 0, Mpumalanga 9, North West 0, Northern Cape 0 and Western Cape 3.
This which brings the total deaths to 52 082.
We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
Our cumulative recoveries today stand at 1 462 110, representing a recovery rate of 95%.
NORTHERN CAPE COVID-19 STATISTICS AS AT 20 MARCH 2021
The Minister of Health announced an additional 129 people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Northern Cape today. The Province cumulative total now stand at 35 454 people.
Namakwa continues to record the highest daily positive cases, with 76 cases in today’s report, followed by Frances Baard (18), ZF Mgcawu and Pixley ka Seme with 12 cases each and JT Gaetsewe (11).
There were no new COVID-19 related deaths reported today. The Province total cumulative deaths due to COVID-19 complications is currently standing at 794.

The number of total active cases in the Province is currently standing at 2 485.
There were 12 people reported to have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. The Province average recovery rate currently stands at 91%, representing a cumulative total of 32 173 people who have recovered from COVID-19.

VACCINES SAVE LIVES – VACCINATION ROLL-OUT
The current round of vaccination was completed on Friday at Upington and will commence again next week in the Namakwa district. The total number of Healthcare Workers vaccinated across the Province is currently 4 556 since the vaccination campaign started on 17 February 2021.
