Loadshedding Warning Tuesday 7/1/2015 – DOWNGRADED TO MEDIUM

One of the two Eskom generators that went offline earlier today has now been repaired and is producing power.

“The system remains vulnerable, meaning that any extra load or faults in the system may necessitate the need to implement load-shedding,” spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said.

WARNING: Load shedding possible after two generators broke down

There is a high risk of loadshedding after the failure of two Eskom generators.

According to spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe, two generators failed and this is part of a number of other challenges within the system that have put a strain on the power supply.

“We are not saying there will be load-shedding but the risk is high between now [noon] and 10pm. If we all work together and use electricity sparingly, we can avoid load shedding,” said Phasiwe.

Engineers were trying to determine why the generators broke down and how long it would take to fix them.
