14 Year Old Girl Dies In Monument Heights House-Fire

Fourteen year old Thembi Ntipa, who attended Kimberley Girls High School, died in a house fire in Monument Heights on Friday.

When members of the emergency services and the local neighbourhood watch arrived on the scene, the fire was already too intense to enter the building. After the fire was extinguished, the body of the girl was found in a corridor in the house.

The girl’s mother, a 12 year old girl and a 9 year old boy managed to escape the fire and were seen sitting outside wrapped in blankets while the fire was ablaze. One of the children was later taken to hospital and treated for slight injuries and bruises. The teenager’s mother refused to leave the scene until her daughter’s body was brought out of the house.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and an investigation by authorities is under way.

The incident occurred at around 23:00 on Friday Night, 31/07/2015.
