WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION – NEWTON RESERVOIRS PUMPS SWITCHED-OFF
REPAIR PROGRESS: The team on-site currently exposing the broken 600 mm asbestos cement pipe. A length of 6meters of this pipe is to be replaced with PVC pipe and joint with Viking Johnson coupling.
RESTORATION OF SUPPLY: The estimated completion time is 23:00.
NIGHTLY WATER SUPPLY INTERRUPTION: Will be withdrawn as a measure of providing residents reprieve.
Cause: Burst pipe located adjacent to Newton Reservoirs.
Contractor undertaking sub-surface drainage accidentally damaged 600mm diameter pipeline supplying Newton Reservoir
This has necessitated the switching off of Newton Reservoirs pumps in order to effect the repair work and stop water flow.
Impact: Low tap pressure to no-tap-flow in Kimberley suburbia (high-lying areas) and other parts.
