Water Interruption Daily Schedule – 10 October 2023

The Sol Plaatje Municipality would like to update the residents about the additional water interruption schedule, over and above the nightly water interruption taking place. This is due to low and still dropping water levels at the Newton Reservoirs. Efforts to counter the drop in reservoir levels are impacted by the peak demand due to current heatwave, lower than normal production in Riverton WPW and the re-opening of schools.

The water levels at Newton Reservoir is still low, and some areas in Kimberley is experiencing low to no water. As a result, the Municipality will be embarking on an afternoon water interruption scheduled as follows:

During the water interruption schools, clinics, and hospitals that do not have water storage facilities will be provided with water through the water tanker. The water levels at the Newton Reservoir are not filling up as expected due to the water filters at the Riverton Water Treatment Plant that require refurbishment. The Water Treatment Works is not operating at optimum level currently.
